Emerging Needs Initiative

This initiative is funded in partnership with Blue Shield of California Foundation and
the San Francisco Foundation

Given the needs and challenges our community is facing, the Asian Pacific Fund is launching its 2019-20 Emerging Needs Initiative focused on addressing the most pressing emerging needs in the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community. There are some needs that we can anticipate, such as census outreach for hard to count API populations and the need for voter engagement, especially among young APIs.

We also anticipate new challenges arising that are not yet visible to us, so future funding must be flexible enough to address these types of needs.

To inform our efforts, we hosted regional Listening Sessions with our executive directors to gain a better understanding of these hidden and emerging needs which are listed below. We anticipate these being our key areas of focus to support our most vulnerable Asians and Pacific Islanders as part of this two-year initiative.
