2012 Honoree – Dominic Ng
As the Chairman and CEO of East West Bank, Dominic Ng has transformed his company from a small Los Angeles Chinatown savings and loan association to one of the 30 largest banks in the US. Named one of 25 most notable Chinese Americans by Forbes and one of L.A.’s 100 most influential people by the Los Angeles Times, Mr. Ng also serves as the Chairman of the Committee of 100 and sits on the boards of several other major organizations. In 2000, he was the first Asian American campaign chair for United Way of Greater Los Angeles. Centered on educating the region’s Chinese American community on the importance of philanthropy and the benefits of supporting high-impact charities, Mr. Ng’s campaign raised record funds, broke a long-standing ethnic barrier, and now serves as a model and best practice for United Way chapters and charities nationwide.
