Kai leads investment strategy and strategic research at Bivium and is responsible for asset allocation and market research, portfolio construction and risk management, manager search and due diligence, as well as product development. Kai has over 25 years of investment experience.

Prior to joining Bivium, Kai was a Managing Director and the Head of Investment Management Consulting at Thomas Weisel Partners, where he oversaw the outside manager investment platform for the firm’s institutional and high-net-worth clients. Kai was formerly a Vice President and Senior Investment Analyst at Northern Trust Global Advisors, where he was the lead research analyst for fixed income and the emerging manager program. Before Northern Trust, he was part of Goldman Sachs’ external manager of managers group. Kai worked on a number of the outsourced CIO portfolios at both Goldman Sachs and Northern Trust.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Engineering degree from MIT. He is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Francisco.  Currently, Kai also serves on the board of The California Endowment.
