OUR PRIORITY ISSUES

• MENTAL HEALTH systems don’t work for us – Asian adults who need mental health services only receive them 25% of the time. According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention, suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States. However, among Asian Americans ages 15-24, it is the leading cause of death. And among Bay Area seniors, 66% have reported increased stress due to isolation and fear since 2020.
• INCOME INEQUALITY is the greatest among AANHPIs, with Chinese Americans at the 90^th percentile earning 19 times more than those at the 10^th percentile.
• Systems still don’t effectively provide LANGUAGE ACCESS despite multiple laws in place, hindering the ability of 24% of California’s AANHPIs who have limited English proficiency from accessing health care and pursuing economic security.
