Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I know if I am eligible to apply to a scholarship program?
A: Eligibility criteria are listed under each scholarship program and on the first page of each application. Please be sure to read each program’s eligibility criteria to find the program(s) for which you are eligible.
Q: Do you only accept applications from graduating high school seniors?
A: No, though many of our scholarship awards are for graduating high school seniors (i.e. “incoming college freshmen”), we have awards that are open to students already enrolled in college (i.e. “current undergraduates”).
Q: Are there scholarships available for graduate students?
A: Yes, the Hsiao Memorial Social Sciences Scholarship is for graduate students pursuing a higher degree in economics/social sciences. Currently, it is our only award for students in graduate school.
Q: Are there scholarships available for international students?
A: We only provide scholarships for study at United States-based colleges and universities. Please review the scholarship program’s eligibility criteria for residency requirements.
Q: Can I apply for more than one scholarship?
A: Yes, you may apply for as many scholarships as you like, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria for those programs and submit a separate application for each.
Q: I saw an application deadline and eligibility criteria on another website, and they are different from the information posted on the Asian Pacific Fund website. Which website has the most accurate information?
A: The official deadline(s) and criteria are posted on the Asian Pacific Fund website at www.asianpacificfund.org. Other websites may have outdated listings with inaccurate application deadlines and eligibility criteria.
Q: When is the scholarship application deadline?
A: Application deadlines for each of the programs are on the cover page of each scholarship application. Kindly take note of it, upload your application materials, and submit the form online by the deadline.
Q: What kind of essays do I need to write?
A: Each scholarship application has required short essay questions (250-500 words). The essay questions allow students to explain their academic and career goals, community involvement, financial need and personal hardship. Please use the application’s essay questions to guide your responses.
Q: What should my counselor/teacher/professor write in my letter of recommendation?
A: We ask that he/she writes about his/her experiences with you as a student, and how well you fit within the criteria of the scholarship program.
Q: How can my counselor/teacher/professor submit his/her letter of recommendation?
A: Please make sure he/she includes your first and last name and the name of the scholarship program with the letter of recommendation. They can do either of the following:
- Forward to you to upload the letter to submit with your application.
- Email the letter directly to: scholarship@asianpacificfund.org
Q: If I am applying for multiple scholarships do I have to submit separate required documents for each program?
A: Yes. Since the applications for each program are judged separately, you will need to submit required documents for each application.
Q: When will I be notified about the status of my application?
A: Most scholarship decisions will be made by July 1, 2023. You will receive an email notifying you of the status of your application.
