2024 AANHPI Summit Speaker: Kim Luna
Kim Luna
Youth Intern
Kim Luna was born in Hayward and raised in Union City; their pronouns are They/Them. They are currently affiliated with Filipino Advocates for Justice as a youth intern, which has helped them dismantle the Western perceptions that have been embedded in their household. As they are a queer Pilipino, their experience has been hard navigating around particular environments like home or either school. Through participation with FAJ, Kim has been given the tools and resources when in need of that support. It helps them manage and process emotions that are triggered and helps create a start on mindfulness. Additionally, NCPASA has helped them manage anxiety and share more about themselves on a virtual level and basis. Something they’d like to see in the future of mental health is definitely the experiences of queer youth (particularly Filipino) and navigation around religious parenting.
