Clear-Eyed and Steadfast

The Asian Pacific Fund (APF) was founded in 1993 out of love and commitment to our communities. In a time when the needs of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPIs) were growing, APF was formed to be both responsive to our community needs and bold in our vision of what is possible. As a community foundation, we must hold both.

As a community foundation, we must also be clear-eyed.
Our communities deserve no less.

From experience, we know that the outcome of the recent presidential election will result in significant policy and administrative changes that will affect those who we hold at the center of our mission – AANHPIs who are most marginalized and already underserved. The exact ways in which those communities will be impacted aren’t clear yet; however, in the immediate term, we know that it is critical for the Fund to support our affiliates, particularly those providing Know Your Rights and legal aid support.

In the longer term, we will continue to partner with our affiliates to assess and make decisions to redeploy our resources (time, talent, and treasure) in ways that are most responsive. We know that the future holds risks to health care access, reproductive justice, LGBTQ rights and safety, anti-Asian hate, and immigrant and refugee families. We know that these are risks that stand to create harm for generations.

So, as we face the next challenges ahead, APF stands precisely where we did in 1993 – steadfastly, with our deep love and commitment, ready to serve and uplift our communities.
