Banatao Scholarship Retreat 2023

The Banatao Family Filipino American Education Fund scholarship program was established in 2002 by Dado and Maria Banatao through the Asian Pacific Fund. The scholarship is designed to support California high school students of Filipino heritage who demonstrate excellence in math and science to pursue rewarding engineering and science careers where Filipino Americans are underrepresented.

Graduates of the Banatao Family Filipino-American Education Fund have moved on to pursue master’s and Ph.D. degrees in their chosen STEM fields and have careers in engineering, science, technology, and more. In addition, these Banatao Scholarship Alumni serve as mentors to the next generation of scholars.

In the 2023-24 academic year, the Banatao family will be the benefactor for 28 scholars through this program. Alongside their scholarship, the Banatao family hosts an annual retreat for new, current, and graduating scholars and alum mentors. Over three days, the scholars, guided by their mentors, will participate in team-building activities, workshops, and career panels.
