Peter Y. Chung is a Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Summit Partners, L.P., a global growth equity investment firm which he joined in 1994. Based in Summit’s Palo Alto office, Peter is active in the firm’s investment activities in North America, Europe and Asia. Prior to Summit, he worked in Mergers & Acquisitions at Goldman, Sachs & Co.
The oldest son of Korean immigrants, Peter was born in Chicago, and grew up in Hinsdale, Illinois. He holds an AB in economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard University and an MBA from Stanford University. Peter is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO) and currently serves as a trustee of the California Academy of Sciences and as an Advisory Board member of the Friends of Harvard Football. As an advisory board member of the Salvation Army’s Golden State Division, he was very engaged in the construction and opening of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. He is also a former trustee of the Stanford Business School Trust.
