Michael Yoshikami, Ph.D., CFP®, is CEO, Founder and Chairman of Destination Wealth Management’s Portfolio Strategy Committee. Founded in 1986, Destination is a San Francisco Bay Area-based independent money management firm that provides fee-based wealth management services to institutional investors and individual investors. The firm works with clients around the world. Michael was named by Barron’s as one of the “Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors” for six years in a row (2009 – 2014).

Michael has over 30 years experience in the investment management and financial planning field. He oversees all investment and research activities of the firm and is actively engaged on a daily basis in the firm’s securities analysis activities and determines the macro tactical asset allocation weightings for client portfolios. He works with Destination’s investment team in integrating behavioral investing strategies with the firm’s core fundamental perspective.

Michael is a CNBC Contributor and provides investment commentary for CNBC U.S., CNBC Europe and CNBC Asia. Programs he appears on include CNBC’s Closing Bell, Squawk on the Street, Power Lunch, The Call and additional CNBC shows. He also provides commentary to Reuters, Dow Jones, the Wall Street Journal, and other international publications.

Michael also writes regularly for CNBC.com, and publishes a “Common Sense” report that looks at the macro environment and the impact on asset allocation. Michael is also a finance professor at National University of Singapore, holds a Ph.D. in education, and has earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
